31st May 2014, Singapore – News had spread like wildfire about a British man who went missing who trekking into a jungle at Tioman Island, Malaysia. Gareth Huntley from London was at the tropical island as a volunteer for a project to protect the endangered sea turtles that visits the shores of Malaysia.

Before Gareth went missing, he told his fellow volunteers that he will be trekking to a waterfall and will be back by “2pm” however, Gareth was never seen again since Tuesday 27th May 2014. UK Foreign Office confirmed that a report had been made regarding the missing British man.

It is also reported that several applications had been made to the Malaysian Authorities to authorized a full scale search & rescue operation but as of today, Malaysia authorities had not approved the search. The local islanders and the volunteers had been conducting the search for Gareth since he went missing.
