Jimbaran, BALI, 1 June 2010 – As travelers inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert’s best-selling novel – and the film-adaptation – seek to follow in her footsteps, they will find every reason to Eat, Pray and Love with a new package from AYANA Resort and Spa Bali. The exotic package recreates elements of Gilbert’s four-months on the island, from the jamu drinks and yoga, to romantic dining, soothing massages, and soul-searching sessions in Ubud with traditional healer Ketut Liyer. You will be inspired by Gilbert’s story as you base yourself in the sanctuary of AYANA’s 77-hectare estate, just a short drive from the dramatically beautiful beach where scenes of the movie were filmed earlier this year. With rooms starting from US$298++ and one-bedroom villas from US$580++ based on a minimum 4-night stay, the package is valid for travel from 1 September to 24 December 2010 and includes:

·        Daily Breakfast for 2 people (for room/suite guests, buffet breakfast will be served at Padi restaurant, while for Villa guests, a la carte breakfast will be served at Dava restaurant).

ADFEST ANNOUNCES FURTHER POSTPONEMENT OF LOTUS AWARDS JUDGING

 

BANGKOK: ADFEST has once again become a victim of the political unrest in Thailand. As a result of foreign embassy closures including the Japanese Embassy in Bangkok, the ADFEST team has been unable to obtain their passport and visas out of the embassy to fly to Tokyo to handle the judging arrangements, planned for 24-28 May 2010.

 

The ADFEST Working Committee is working urgently to find a new date for the judging in Tokyo.

 

Says Vinit Suraphongchai, Chairman of the Working Committee, “We are determined to ensure that the Lotus Awards judging takes place, despite all the obstacles we have faced this year and I would like to thank everyone who has been so patient and understanding in this difficult time for ADFEST and the people of Thailand.”

 

Jimmy Lam, President of the ADFEST and responsible for the judging panels said,  “In speaking to our friends and invited guests, there is obviously great disappointment for further delay, but equally much understanding and concern."

 

"Our jury panelists and colleagues in the Japanese ad industry are very sympathetic to ADFEST and the organising team in Bangkok, who have worked tirelessly to reschedule this year’s jury session. They have expressed their continuing support and are still working hard with us to make the Lotus Awards judging happen soon.”

 

ADFEST would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the postponement of the Lotus Awards judging, which again has been taken due to circumstances entirely out of its control. It would like to thank its jury panelists for their patience and commitment and its many friends in Japan who are helping to arrange a new date for the judging in Tokyo, which will be announced shortly.

BANGKOK: ADFEST is delighted to announce the judging of the 2010 ADFEST Lotus Awards will officially take place from 24-28th May in Tokyo, Japan.


The ADFEST Organizing Committee considered several different cities across the Asia Pacific, but ultimately Tokyo proved to be the most suitable choice for the relocation of this year’s Jury session, which includes more than 50 of the world’s most esteemed creative executives, executive producers and directors.


“The ADFEST Organizing Committee has worked tirelessly to ensure our Jury Panel will come together in Asia in less than two week’s time to assess the region’s best advertising ideas of 2010. ADFEST prides itself on being the region’s 1st major awards festival every year. The agencies that win at ADFEST usually go on to shine globally, and this year will be no different – regardless of the fact that our Jury Panel will meet in Japan this year, rather than Thailand,” says ADFEST President Jimmy Lam.


ADFEST made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s three-day festival in light of the uncertain political climate in Thailand, but is now delighted to confirm that the 2010 ADFEST Lotus winners will be unveiled to the world immediately after this year’s Jury session on 24-28th May.

This means all winners and finalists will be announced and showcased via www.adfest.com in the week commencing Monday 31 May. In-depth interviews and videos with the 2010 Jury members will also be published on ADFESTbuzz.

LONDON ADVERTISING LEGEND STEVE HENRY IS ADFEST’S 2010 NEW GRAND JURY PRESIDENT

BANGKOK: ADFEST is delighted to announce that one of Europe’s most acclaimed advertising creatives, Steve Henry, founder and former creative director of Howell Henry Chaldecott Lury (HHCL) in London, is this year’s new 2010 Grand Jury President.

Henry replaces Brazil’s most famous advertising executive, Washington Olivetto, who regrettably is unable to make the new ADFEST judging dates from 24-28 May 2010 following the festival’s postponement.


Jimmy Lam, President of the ADFEST Working Committee said, “We are delighted that Steve has been able to step in as ADFEST Grand Jury President at such short notice. We are looking forward to his energy and experience to select the most deserving winners of the Lotus Awards.”

As the founder and creative director of HHCL, Henry was the youngest person to make Campaign magazine’s inaugural Hall of Fame in 2007, which listed 40 of the most influential people in British advertising over the last 50 years.


"I consider it a great honour to step in as Grand Jury President at ADFEST this year. I have always enjoyed seeing work from Asia. I’ve been interested in the region all my life, at least partly because I was born in Hong Kong!” says Henry.


“I’m hoping to see rule-breaking work, which on one hand is hard because of the economic situation, but on the other hand is easier because of all the opportunities brought by new media. I’m looking forward to seeing how Asia, which has a growing and well-deserved reputation for creativity, is faring."


Under Henry’s rein at HHCL, the agency won Campaign’s Agency of the Year three times, and was voted Agency of the Decade in 2000. Its most famous campaigns include the irreverent Tango and Pot Noodle campaigns, which cemented HHCL’s reputation for creating unorthodox yet effective campaigns. In 2006, HHCL changed its name to United London, which closed its doors in 2007.


Since then, Henry worked for two years as TBWA/London on brands such as Playstation, Adidas, Apple and Starburst, before leaving the agency to embark on his own projects, which include authoring the best-selling book, ‘Change the World for a Fiver’. He has won everything from D&AD Yellow Pencils to the Grand Prix at Cannes, making him one of the most awarded advertising creatives in the world.


Henry’s appointment puts the ADFEST Lotus Awards judging back on track to be completed by the end of May 2010. Olivetto expressed his deep regret at not being able to attend ADFEST’s new judging session due to prior commitments. Fortunately, the majority of the invited Jury Presidents and Jury members are all available to attend the new dates, so the new judging schedule will go ahead as planned.


ADFEST’s main festival event that accompanies the Lotus Awards judging was originally scheduled to take place on 18-20 March 2010. It was cancelled due to political tensions in Bangkok but is planned to return in 2011. For further information, visit http://www.adfest.com
