Sex In Advertising Series II – Part 3 SKOL Beer

Sometimes advertisers takes a direct approach.

In this example from SKOL, a Brazilian Beer.

On the left, you get a "traditional" censored-type of a cover up for a female’s boobs.

On the right, you get the new way of "covering" by just covering the nipples with 2 black spot.

The Brazilian (Portuguese) text "Seria Assim" literally got translated in "Would Thus" while in this context should mean "This is how it should be done".

Very straightforward and direct.

But why boobs?

Go figure out yourself.

  1. Ad goes like this – left: “If the guy who invented the censorship strip drunk Skol, it wouldn’t be like this.”; right: “It would be like this.”.
On the bottom right, the punch line: “With Skol, everything becomes round.”.

    Cheers!
