Today we look at one of the most important aspect of New Media.
Photo Hosting Sites.
I have been a supporter of Photobucket for a couple of years, but recently other picture hosting sites seems to be offering me better flexibility when it comes to the type of pictures that I’ve uploaded. I remember a couple of months ago, I uploaded a picture with a lady in micro bikini, it was meant as a spoof for an advertisement and also to serve as a graphical support to my article, but Photobucket removed the picture and claimed that I’ve "violated" their terms & conditions.
There was no nudity, just a micro bikini so I wrote to the admin of Photobucket. Their reply had me laughing for weeks. They claimed "Micro Bikini" is "nudity", I almost thought that Photobucket is run by a group of nerds made up by retirees living on handouts or worse, a group of part-timers made up of solely housewives!
And about 2 weeks ago, I uploaded another picture. It was the ad creative for Aprilia’s Motorcycles. Again it was removed by Photobucket.com stating the same reason. This ad is approved and met the ASA requirements (Advertising Standards Authority) and Photobucket.com claimed otherwise. The creative features a female’s butt and with a man measuring it. This is informing that this Aprilia scooter is tailored made for ladies and the comfort of the seat is made-to-measure to a real female which this advertiser is targeting for this model.
I never had any problem with other alternative picture hosting sites before. Given the nature of my blog and the type of pictures that I will potentially upload, such are the liberal culture of media industry where creative & artistical ideas are projected through every available elements and that includes nudity too! Being a photo hosting site and they are still being so conservative and being anal about it, well, all my good pictures are now proudly hosted by imageshack.us!

I wonder what would excuse will Photobucket give me when they try to to remove the above picture.
Maybe I should try to upload it to Photobucket and see what happen next.
Maybe Photobucket will say; "Yellow is not Our corporate color".
