Are women so complex and complicated? I will not elaborate why "men came from Mars & women came from Venus and both tried to co-exist on Earth". But from marketing perspective, this is one market that is the hardest to penetrate with a new brand or a new product. Most creative directors will either make it or break it. One wrong word, one wrong picture used and that’s it. That’s probably reflects how "fragile" a woman can (ridiculously) be.
Take for example, an advertisement that features, say Paris Hilton, 50% of the female population may read the ad as "I can be as pretty as her if I used this product!" while the other 50% may shrugged it off and say "ah, no way I am going to be anything near or using anything that hints of that bitch." See what I mean here?
Always remember, females are REALLY a complex lot and you have to "hit" where it hurt most. Every women in existence is more concerned about how she look in front of other people and her peers more than interested in something that "hints" of other people’s success or others’ beauty which they would probably not able to achieve without going under the knife.
So for those marketing to females, do bear in mind, before you market anything to females, try to understand their mindset first. What you know yesterday may no longer apply today, and that’s woman in general.
After what I had said above, there are 2 ads example below, you think which will work better and catch the average female’s attention?
Do email me your views at
"SALE" – A word that captures the attention of at least 99% of females.

I do not profess that I really understand the female species very well, it’s an ongoing process. They change their mind faster than you can change your underwear, hahaha.
Oh, I am not gay by the way.
